We are looking for a highly motivated and innovative teacher to join our dedicated Humanities department from September 2026. This role will be predominantly based at our site in Sevenoaks, but you will be expected to travel to our Tunbridge Wells campus.

The successful candidate will be able to deliver high-quality lessons in Geography, History and Religious Education at Key Stage 3, with the ability to teach at least one subject to GCSE and A Level preferred.

The Humanities department is well established at Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys and continues to be popular across each year group. All subjects within the faculty have high take up at GCSE and A Level, and have consistently produced some of the school’s best results in recent years. A healthy approach to broader, innovative ways to enhance learning is encouraged – trips and out-of-class enrichment activities add to this. Staff have a wealth of experiences and interests, which bring many dimensions to the provision of excellent lessons as well as skills and support for a new colleague!

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience of achieving positive outcomes for students, as well as being passionate about making a difference to the lives of young people. As a committed team player, you will have excellent organisational skills and the natural ability to motivate both students and peers. We welcome applications from creative and dynamic teachers who can contribute to this vision. Although the ideal candidate will have a proven track record of excellent teaching and learning, we also welcome applications from ECTs.

We are currently undergoing a period of transformational change benefiting from a multi-million pound investment in Tunbridge Wells and a brand new building at our Sevenoaks campus, which opened in September 2021. Since September 2025 Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys has become one of the largest boys’ grammar schools in the country. Here we all share the same vision: ‘To be the best selective boys’ school in West Kent’ and our journey towards achieving this continues to be an exciting one.

We can offer you the opportunity to work with highly able young people in a supportive, well-equipped and forward-thinking school. We offer a friendly and inclusive working environment and the chance to be part of a fantastic multidisciplinary team, who work hard and support each other to deliver personalised, bespoke education and care.

Staff benefit from a positive working environment, with strong support for professional development and specialist teaching rooms. We aim for high standards and the pursuit of academic excellence, helping every student to reach their full potential through the development of skills, concepts and knowledge, within the framework of a caring community. Relationships between staff and students are based on trust, mutual respect and a determination to succeed.

Please note that we will only accept CVs that are accompanied by an application form (see below). We shall review applications as we receive them so apply early! We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role.
