We are delighted to be able to offer the post of Teacher of Music.
We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic music teacher to work alongside the Head of Department to contribute to the continued development of our school's Music Department.
Our Music Department is busy, vibrant and well equipped, with two computer suites, a recording studio and four practice rooms. With the motto 'Make Music Make Waves', the department aims to create well-rounded musicians who are prepared for their next stages in life. At KS3, students explore a wide range of musical styles and explore software packages such as MuseScore, Garageband and Cubase. At KS4, students study the Eduqas specification, and we had great results this past summer. With the offer of A Level Music Technology at Key Stage 5, the successful candidate will have a varied and challenging role.
The Music Department puts on a number of large-scale performances each year, in addition to weekly rehearsals, small-scale trips, residentials, workshops and foreign tours. Working in collaboration with our new Head of Drama, we will be putting on musical productions from next academic year. The Music Department also works closely with other nearby schools as part of the Kent Network, sharing best practice and putting on collaborative, inter-school events.
We welcome applications from creative and dynamic teachers who can contribute to this vision. The successful applicant will be someone who can inspire students.
We are currently undergoing a period of transformational change benefiting from a multi-million pound investment in Tunbridge Wells and a brand new building at our Sevenoaks campus, which opened in September 2021. In September 2025 Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys will be one of the largest boys’ grammar schools in the country. Here we all share the same vision: ‘To be the best selective boys’ school in West Kent’ and our journey towards achieving this continues to be an exciting one.
We can offer you the opportunity to work with highly able young people in a supportive, well-equipped and forward-thinking school. We offer a friendly and inclusive working environment and the chance to be part of a fantastic multidisciplinary team, who work hard and support each other to deliver personalised, bespoke education and care.
Staff benefit from a positive working environment, with strong support for professional development and specialist teaching rooms. We aim for high standards and the pursuit of academic excellence, helping every student to reach their full potential through the development of skills, concepts and knowledge, within the framework of a caring community. Relationships between staff and students are based on trust, mutual respect and a determination to succeed.
Please note that we will only accept CVs that are accompanied by an application form (see below). We shall review applications as we receive them so apply early! We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role.
