Are you passionate about English?
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and talented English teacher to join our team. This role has the potential of getting involved in Classics at KS4 level for the right person.
The English department is well established at Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys. Staff have a wealth of experience and interests, which bring many dimensions to the provision of excellent lessons as well as skills and support for a new colleague! We have enjoyed excellent results at both GCSE and A Level, and a concept-focused Key Stage 3 proves a popular launch pad for strong progress.
A healthy approach to broader, innovative ways to enhance learning is encouraged, and trips add to this!
The successful applicant will have a passion for their subject and an understanding of the strategies required to motivate and inspire students, and also be able to contribute to an excellent team achieving equally impressive results. Above all else, the successful candidate should be enthusiastic about their work with young people and have a genuine concern for their development as individuals.
The role would be suitable for an experienced secondary teacher seeking a new challenge or possibly a recently qualified teacher looking to gain experience in a supportive school.
We are currently undergoing a period of transformational change benefiting from a multi-million pound investment in Tunbridge Wells and a brand new building at our Sevenoaks campus, which opened in September 2021. In September 2025 Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys will be one of the largest boys’ grammar schools in the country. Here we all share the same vision: ‘To be the best selective boys’ school in West Kent’ and our journey towards achieving this continues to be an exciting one.
We can offer you the opportunity to work with highly able young people in a supportive, well-equipped and forward-thinking school. We offer a friendly and inclusive working environment and the chance to be part of a fantastic multidisciplinary team, who work hard and support each other to deliver personalised, bespoke education and care.
Staff benefit from a positive working environment, with strong support for professional development and specialist teaching rooms. We aim for high standards and the pursuit of academic excellence, helping every student to reach their full potential through the development of skills, concepts and knowledge, within the framework of a caring community. Relationships between staff and students are based on trust, mutual respect and a determination to succeed.
Please note that we will only accept CVs that are accompanied by an application form (see below). We shall review applications as we receive them so apply early! We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role.
