Sixth Form Centre Campaign
TODAY. TOMORROW. TOGETHER.
At Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys we strive to equip our students to play a full and constructive place in society. We want them to be adaptive, to exercise critical judgement and to be prepared for the rapidly changing requirements of the 21st century.
Whilst the teaching and learning for our Sixth Form students is of the highest calibre, the buildings for our current Sixth Form Centre are woefully inadequate and we are committed to replacing them. A new Centre for our Sixth Form students to experience the best possible learning and social spaces is a critical step in our school development plan.
However, as a Grammar School, we receive less funding than most other state-funded schools and there is no Government funding for sixth form provision, so we must self-fund this building project.
A specific Fundraising Board has been setup for the Sixth Form Centre of Excellence campaign and, with the backing of our school Governors, has set an ambitious target to raise £750,000 by April 2020 with building works commencing in Summer 2020. As the full cost of Phase 1 of the project will be £1.5 million, the school is working with KCC to identify matched funding opportunities for the balance.
The new Sixth Form Centre will be so much more than its bricks and mortar. It will be where our students have the space to grow and learn independently and collaboratively. The new centre will represent the jewel in our crown where each boy from year 7 aspires to be.
I urge you to join our campaign and be an integral part of giving our students a bigger and brighter future.
