We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Curriculum Lead to support our Head of Science with the ongoing development of KS3, KS4 and KS5 Physics.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about the Science curriculum and how this can be taught in an inspiring way to maximise student engagement and success. They will be able to provide effective support to the Science department and steer areas of common interest and strategy across the department in order to enhance the quality of learning and achievement.  

The successful candidate will be offered a full programme of support and development in order to continue to progress their career, including line management guidance, supported by the Head of Science and an Assistant Headteacher.

Principal accountabilities

Along with the professional duties of a classroom teacher (as set out in the School Teachers' Pay & Conditions), there will also be a requirement to:

  • Plan and manage associated resources/teaching materials, teaching programmes, courses of study, methods of teaching and assessment within the delegated area of responsibility;
  • Give guidance, support and encouragement to staff and lead development sessions;
  • Secure the highest standards of student achievement, monitoring and evaluation of pupil achievement and setting targets for improvement;
  • Monitor individual and groups of student’s progress against targets within the subject as identified and agreed by HoD and RSL;
  • Monitor students’ progress and performance in Science (within the delegated area of responsibility) with the class teacher in relation to targets set for each individual, ensuring that personalised interventions are actioned where necessary.

The Science department runs smoothly and our students achieve well across Key Stages 3 to 5. Our core purpose is to fully engage all our students and ignite their curiosity and determination so they can achieve their full potential. The Science department has 11 laboratories, all fully equipped for high-quality teaching and learning; we are further supported by four technicians. We teach the AQA syllabus in KS4, and OCR is KS5.

The main site for TWGSB is in Tunbridge Wells. However, you may be required to work at other sites connected to TWGSB.
