Poetry by Heart Competition

All boys in Year 7 relished the challenge of learning a poem by heart and then performing it during an English lesson. The 21 best (3 from each form) competed against each other on Wednesday afternoon in the school library. It was a compelling and engaging display of their talents. The judges tasked with deciding the winner were the Sixth Form creative writing students and Mrs Corp, English Teacher and Head of Year 12.

The 21 boys were: Theo Watt-Bonar, James Brazil, George Newman, Louis Grey, Jacob Osborne-Walker, Tyler Ormurca, Mack Milinkovic, Miguel Mellinger, Archie Harman, Henry Jones, Finlay Bronson, Philip Nze, Lewis Stockman, Jonathan Hope, Luke McHattie, Kai Orr, Alex Redman, Noah Sanders, Joe Steyn, Joe Morel-Paulo, and Tom Appleby.

The three winners performed their poem to the year group at an assembly - we are very proud of them.

First Alex Redman Jabberwocky Lewis Carroll
Second Joe Morel Paulo Macavity - The Mystery Cat T S Eliot
Third James Brazil Dulce et Decorum Est Wilfred Owen
