John Downton Awards
The Art Department recently selected pieces of work from last academic year that we were particularly impressed with to enter into the John Downton Awards.
The John Downton Award for Young Artists is an annual exhibition which encourages and celebrates the creativity of Kent's young artists. It is open to students, aged 11 - 18, from schools and colleges across Kent. The award is hosted by us on behalf of the John Downton Trust. The exhibition commemorates the life and work of John Downton, the celebrated Kent artist, poet and philosopher.
We were informed that there was a very high level of quality entries this year so we were very happy to hear that the following work was selected for exhibition…
Giraffe by Archie Foad
Nature by Eric Parker
Sheep by Fergus Fones
Rhino by Josh Bowhay
Him by Katrina Briers
Girl by Taran Knight
The exhibition will be open in Maidstone County Hall from 24th October – 3rd December, Monday to Friday (9 – 5) for anyone who wishes to visit.
