Mayor returns to school

The Mayor of Tunbridge Wells took a trip down memory lane when he was invited back as guest of honour to his old school’s awards afternoon.  Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys was thrilled to welcome back David Neeve and his wife on Wednesday 29th June to present awards and certificates to successful students across the whole school.  His speech touched on his own memories from his years at the school and the inspiration he still remembers from those days as he encouraged today’s students to continue striving to do their best and quoted the school motto – Faber est quisque suae fortunae – each man is the architect of his own fortune.

Headteacher John Harrison said “It was really interesting to speak with David about his time at the school and although the main hall was largely as he remembered it there were a number of new buildings and facilities to tell the mayor about.  Some things don’t change and I was heartened that the memories that the Mayor held most dear were of old teachers who had inspired him to become a teacher and to put so much back into our community.”
