PTA Newsletter, December 2018

Christmas Fair

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to support this year’s Christmas Fair. It was a fantastic day (despite the weather!) and we raised a total of £9,400. The day was made possible by the army of helpers on Friday and Saturday who gave up their time to sort out all the donations, create the wonderful hampers, fill sweet jars, put up decorations, run stalls, play music, cook sausages and fold an awful lot of raffle and tombola tickets! We are also very grateful for the support we receive from local businesses and for the wonderful raffle prizes that were donated. Please look out for information in future newsletters as to how we have allocated the funds raised.

Christmas Card Sales

We were delighted to receive a donation of £200 from the sale of the winning Christmas cards produced by the pupils in this year’s Christmas Card House competition. The standard of the artwork was incredibly high and the cards are a fantastic advertisement for the talent of our students and the work of the Art Department.

Where your money goes

In 2017-18 we gave just under £23,000 to the school in support of the pupils. This included £7,200 for MACK Inspire, £4,400 and £2,000 to the Sports and PE departments respectively, £2,100 on DT, £1,800 on Media, £2,100 to Estates, and several smaller amounts to the library, ICT and MFL departments.

To date in 2018-19 we have allocated nearly £11,000, which has gone towards computers for the sixth form and music department, textbooks for the library and history department, and post protectors for the PE department.

Christmas Tree Promotion

Thank you very much to Trinity Teatre for their prize donations to our raffle at the Christmas Fair. Their Youth Theatre have produced a play which you might enjoy:  High School Musical and if you have a child in Year 1 or 2 who may enjoy acting do consider: Storytellers "a gentle first foray into the world of drama".
