U13 Boys and U16 Boys team winners of the K.S.T.T.A
TWGSB U13 Boys and U16 Boys team winners of the Kent Schools Table Tennis Association (K.S.T.T.A)
Both TWGSB teams that entered the competition won their age group in Kent and go on to the Zone finals in London at the end of January where they meet teams from the South East of England.
The U16s (Tim Walters, Tom Arnott, George Sainsbury and Tarek Hinde-Ahmed) did not drop a game in either the opening round, the semi-final or the final, achieving 8:0 against each school played. This earned them a place at the Zone finals. Equally successful were the U13s (Julio Key, Richard Holmes, Joe Gillhouley and Ben Baillache) who despite losing two games in the final delivered a result of 6:2 also taking them through to the Zone finals.
The boys not only have to play but coach and umpire for each other as well so it is a full-on day with little down-time. The support and camaraderie that they all give each other is a credit to them all and a great advertisement for TWGSB.
Last year's team of Tim Walters, Tom Arnott, Richard Holmes and Joe Gillhouley were also honoured during the presentations for representing Kent schools and reaching the Nationals last year. They were presented with a baton for the school to raise the profile of the sport of table tennis.
George Sainsbury is a member of Byng Hall TTC in Tunbridge Wells but all the other boys are members of the Darenth Table Tennis Club based in Dunton Green. The team was accompanied by Darenth's coaches, Dave and Janet Field plus family members.
Thank you to all of them.
