Year 13 Students Renovate Sixth Form Learning Spaces

A group of Year 13 students gave up two days of their holiday to work with Kirsten Jones from on a design project to renovate the Sixth Form learning spaces, funded by the PTA. The brief for the first phase was to create key items of furniture, adding a bench table and noticeboards plus a make-over in the locker room and ladies toilets!

The students took on various tasks and responsibilities including Project manager, Workshop coordinator, screen design, furniture installation as well as 'King of the sander', 'Queen of stripes' and Catering superstar.  The team were exceptionally hard working and created a productive, organised and well managed space throughout the 2 days. Despite a mixed range of experience in practical work they all helped each other and developed a good understanding of working with materials and design of furniture.   The next phase will be to complete the final elements of furniture and create a collaborative artwork that represents the 'all round excellence' of our Sixth Form students.  Watch this space!
“Your students are totally amazing and I can honestly say I’ve never worked with such a polite, good humoured, creative, helpful and fearless lot! They are a real credit to your school.” Kirsten Jones,
