The Mason Mile Challenge - Sunday 25th February 10a.m at TWGSB

The Mason Mile is the brainstorm of Mr Stephen Mason who is passionate about raising the physical and mental well-being of the family and for those under 16.

The Mason Mile aims to educate families and children in the benefits of instigating changes around exercise and diet; these changes will increase their self-esteem and positivity, which in turn improves their overall mental well-being and thus their education.

The Mason Mile website gives details of previous events including partners supporting the project and photos of the inaugural event in Dunorlan Park last summer. We were proud to be the school that had the most entries and also had the most runners in the top 6 finishers including Archie Elliott (13H) who won the race!

Our school and other local Primary and Secondary schools in the Tunbridge Wells area are supporting the event which is the second Mason Mile challenge at TWGSB after the first event in January which had over 50 entrants which was a promising start with Jamie MacDonald the first to finish in a very respectable time of just over 7 minutes in very muddy conditions! However, we would like to see at least 70 runners this month so please get out those running shoes and come and run a mile this Sunday morning. There is no need to register your child or other members of your family for this event, just turn up from 9.30a.m and we will sign you up when you arrive. Registration will be near the car park area adjacent to the 3G pitch.  Please use the main school car park and walk down to the school fields.

The Mason Mile Challenge is open to all ages, abilities and disabilities and we encourage as many families as possible to attend. Spikes or long studded boots are recommended for the course which is around the school fields. There is a cafe at the nearby Sports Centre if you fancy a well-earned drink or bite to eat after the run.

Next events: Sunday 25th March and Sunday 29th April 2018 and the intention is to continue once a month events for the rest of the school year.
