The Mason Mile Challenge -

This National event which is the brainstorm of Mr Stephen Mason who is passionate about raising the physical and mental well-being of the family and for those under 16.

The Mason Mile aims to educate families and children in the benefits of instigating changes around exercise and diet; these changes will increase their self-esteem and positivity, which in turn improves their overall mental well-being and thus their education.

See the Mason Mile website (above) for details of previous events including partners supporting the project and photos of the inaugural event in Dunorlan Park last summer.

We were proud to be the school that had the most entries and also had the most runners in the top 6 finishers including Archie Elliott (13H) who won the race!

Our school and other local Primary and Secondary schools in the Tunbridge Wells area, are supporting the event which is the second Mason Mile challenge in Tunbridge Wells after the huge popularity and success of the Dunorlan Park event. This challenge will take place at TWGSB playing fields on the last Sunday of each month, the first event will be on Sunday 28th January at 10a.m.

There is no need to register your child or other members of your family for this event, just turn up from 9.30a.m and we will sign you up when you arrive. Registration will be near the car park area adjacent to the 3G pitch. Car parking will be available in the school car park. The Mason Mile Challenge is open to all ages, abilities and disabilities and we encourage as many families as possible to attend. Feel free to bring your dog and walk the course if running the course does not appeal to you! You may want to bring wellies or strong walking boots though as the course may be muddy. Spikes or long studded boots are recommended for the course which is around the school fields.

There is a cafe at the nearby Sports Centre if you fancy a well-earned drink or bite to eat after the run.

As in the inaugural event in Tunbridge Wells I am happy to donate achievement points to all students from our school who complete the race on Monday 29th January. Please meet in the gym at 8.50 a.m after registration on that day.

Further Mason Mile Challenges will take place at TWGSB on Sunday 25th February and Sunday 25th March 2018 and the intention is to continue once a month events for the rest of the school year. I fully recommend that your child commits to this excellent opportunity which is free, healthy, open to all ages abilities and disabilities and can bring your family together for an excellent cause. If you have any further questions about the challenge on 28th January 2018, please contact me at school.

Yours sincerely

Mr K. Downing - Head of P.E
