Sixth Form

We understand that this is an uncertain time for Year 11 students, due to changes in how GCSE exam grades will be awarded to students. Our current advice for all students (both TWGSB and external applicants) who have received a conditional offer remains the same: a place is offered on the condition that they achieve 48 points from their best 8 GCSEs.

Once details on the new results day are issued by the Department of Education, the process will be:

TWGSB students: confirm take-up of their place on results day, via email to

External students: confirm take-up of their place on results day, via email to and provide proof of grades (e.g. photograph of exam certificates).

Note: this process may be subject to change, depending on advice from the Department of Education.

September 2020 entry:

In order to ensure all students have a chance to be successful we insist on a minimum level of performance at GCSE. You should obtain at least 48 points from your best 8 GCSE grades with no less than a grade 5 in English Language and Mathematics. Students wishing to study Mathematics at A Level must have a minimum of grade 7 at GCSE. For other subjects at least a grade 6 is required in the subject the student wishes to study at A Level or in a closely related subject for those subjects that are new to the curriculum in the Sixth Form. See the course pages in the Sixth Form Prospectus for the requirements for specific subjects offered at A Level.
