Governors
Governance Statement
Our responsibilities and principles
As Governors of Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys our key responsibilities are to:
- Ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
- Hold the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff
- Oversee the financial performance of the school and make sure its money is well spent
We also have numerous statutory obligations covering a number of important areas including safeguarding.
We provide challenge and support to protect those things we all hold dear- in particular TWGSB’s proud tradition of pastoral care, academic excellence and supporting our students to prepare them with the confidence and life skills they will need.
However, ours is also an ambitious school. Our challenge and support is therefore focused in equal measure on continuous development and improvement. We want our students, staff and the wider community to benefit from all of the opportunities available to them from a school achieving at the very highest levels in everything we do.
