Other Years’ Admissions

Admissions information for entry to Years 8−11 and mid-year entry to year 7

The school also has a planned admissions number (PAN) of 180 per year and it is not legal for the school to offer places above this level. At present, we have the following number of pupils in the school:

2009-2010

Year 7: 207
Year 8: 182
Year 9: 180
Year 10: 179
Year 11: 187

You will see that in years 7, 8 and 11 we have more than 180 pupils and the reason for this is that an independent appeals panel has required us to admit these particular pupils. The only way that the school can admit over 180 pupils is if an independent appeals panel requires us to do so. These numbers mean that the school cannot admit any additional pupils in years 7,  8, 9 and 11.

However, parents do have the right to have their child tested in order to ascertain whether he is suited to a selective education and the school will run tests between on a specific day in each of the following months: November, February, April and June. For more detail contact Mr J A Coen, Deputy Head, via the School Office on 01892 529551.

The tests will be in English Maths and Science and will be based on material that your child should have studied according to the National Curriculum for his age group. His performance in these tests should indicate that he is among the most able 25% of his age group. While the school is happy to offer these tests, it must be understood that even if he performs very well in them, the school will not be able to offer him a place.

Parents have the right to appeal against an admissions decision that the school makes and to make such an appeal parents should contact: Appeals Panel Administration, Legal and Democratic Services, Sessions House, Maidstone ME14 1XQ. The school reserves the right to oppose any appeal that requires it to accept more that 180 pupils.
