ICT

Ethos

Years 7−9
The use of common office applications to a ‘professional’ standard including Microsoft Office applications, desk top publishing and web design is taught in years 7 and 8. The work undertaken in Year 9 is used to generate a national curriculum assessment. KS3 is condensed into 2 years in this subject to enable the GCSE to be started in Year 9.

Years 10−11
A full GCSE is available as an option subject in Years 10 and 11. Work completed in Year 9 can be used as evidence for extra curricular studies to gain a half GCSE for those not undertaking the ICT option in Year 10.

There are extra curricular lessons (lunchtimes and after school) to build on their work from Year 9 and gain a short course GCSE qualification in Year 10.

Years 12−13
Computing AS and A2
Applied ICT (AS and A2 when numbers permit)

Enrichment
Optional use of enrichment software – Lego control, Desk Top Pro, multimedia software at lunchtimes through dedicated clubs.
