Student Support

We accept that our vision of educating students who can fulfil their potential will require us to offer a wide range of support and encouragement. There are times in all of our lives when we need support from other people or the wider community and we recognise that fact in our Learning Community.

All students at TWGSB will be part of a Form group led by their Form Tutor. This person plays an essential part as the academic mentor – the person who keeps a close eye on the academic and personal development of individuals; the person who will know the students best and who is the first line of support. The Form Tutor is always there to listen. The Year groups are led by the Head of Year, who co-ordinates the education of 180 students. They are the people who will ensure that any student who needs extra support will receive it, whether that means referring a student to the lunch-time maths club or arranging for a student to see the school counsellor.

We acknowledge that parents know their children best and at all times we seek to work with parents to ensure the wellbeing and happiness of their child.

We have a range of internal support structures ranging from the Health and Welfare department to Academic Support which allows experts to work closely with students who need support. As a Learning Community we also seek to develop an atmosphere where students will support one another in order to build trust and prevent bullying.
