KS3 Assessment Reporting

Assessment reports will contain two scores for each subject.

Each score will be on a 1 to 5 scale as defined below.

You get a score for your behaviour/learning in class and a score for your behaviour/learning out of class.

  1.  –  Outstanding
  2.  –  Very Good
  3.  –  Good/As Expected
  4.  –  Unsatisfactory
  5.  –  Significantly below expectations

The ‘In Class Learning Behaviour’ score will cover:

  • Behaviour – settling to tasks, self control, impact on others’ learning, respect.
  • Concentration – determination.
  • Engagement – asking and answering questions, volunteering.
  • Co-operation – including independent and collaborative working.

The ‘Out of Class Learning Behaviour’ score will cover:

  • Meeting Deadlines
  • Organisation – bringing the right equipment
  • Punctuality
  • Revision effectiveness

In addition to learning behaviours each assessment report will contain Grade/Band for each subject as defined below:

A

Excellent work in line with the most able; excellent potential; if you carry on working hard in the long term pupils you should be capable of achieving an A grade or better at KS4.

B

Good work in line with the majority of able pupils; good potential; if the standard of work is sustained in the long term pupils should be capable of achieving a B grade or better at KS4.

C

Pupils show evidence of work that needs careful development; their work is in line with some of the weakest pupils within our ability group; pupils show insecure potential; if the current standard of work is sustained in the long term pupils are at risk of not achieving a C grade or equivalent at KS4.
